Think about this.

You are in a leadership role, be it a parent, teacher, manager, group leader, whatever position. You are in a position where responsibility is in your hands over subordinates. How would you fare?

Well think about it and in the meanwhile we will discuss about a concept called SERVANT LEADERSHIP.  Even corporates has this concept which is not understood much for its success potential and hence rarely applied. The phrase “Servant Leadership” was phrased by Robert K. Greenleaf in The Servant as Leader, an essay that he first published in 1970.

Here is the definition of this concept as per the essay:

“Servant leadership has all to do with people, relationships, character and doing the right thing. Good management is no longer good enough, you need good leaders. It is about who you are and your ability to inspire people to action, to influence people to be the best they can be. It is a lifelong journey that includes the discovery of one’s self, a desire to serve others and a commitment to lead”.

Somebody once said” People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care”. Sadly, you will not find a person who fits into this position. Why so? Because a SERVANT is always frowned upon. In this competitive world everyone wants to be successful; least do they think about becoming a servant. But hardly do they understand people and concentrate more on projects.

I knew this concept but never knew its roots. The other day i found an incident being narrated by one of the disciples of RADHANATH SWAMI explaining as to how she understood the new meaning of leadership from Radhanath Swami. When i read that i knew that i had stumbled upon the roots of SERVANT LEADERSHIP. Radhanath Swami explains this concept and makes it a point that any sincere spiritual seeker has to practice this unlike the corporate world which hesitates to even utter it. Here is that link to the incident:
